Course Structure/Delivery Method

Advantage GD&T Training and Consulting workshops are based on the best GD&T training materials available. These materials are written, proofread and tested by world leading GD&T experts and exercises are designed to inspire critical thinking. My workshops bring these materials to life with demonstrations, numerous practice problems and group exercises ensuring students fully understand the fundamentals in preparation for learning the more advanced concepts that follow. To aid in retention of topics learned, homework is assigned each evening. Assignments are graded and returned for participants to review and receive feedback.

Who Should Attend?

These courses are ideal for all individuals who create or interpret engineering drawings including design, layout, assembly, checking and inspection personnel.

Please see the Workshop Descriptions attached for information regarding topics covered.

Courses Offered:

Course Outline (PDF) – Engineering Drawing Requirements

The interpretation of an engineering drawing has a direct impact on the final product. This course teaches how to correctly prepare and interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices and Y14.24 Drawing Types and Applications resulting in more effective communication.

Course Outline (PDF) – Fundamentals of GD&T, Based on ASME Y14.5-2009

Learn how to interpret engineering drawings produced in accordance with the ASME Y14.5-2009 standard. You will discover the terms, rules, symbols, and concepts of GD&T as prescribed in the standard, as well as gain an in-depth understanding of the geometric symbols, including each symbol’s requirements, tolerance zones, and limitations. Numerous practice problems are assigned reinforcing and ensuring you retain the knowledge learned.

Course Outline (PDF) – Fundamentals of GD&T, Based on ASME Y14.5M-1994

Learn how to interpret engineering drawings produced in accordance with the ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.

Course Outline (PDF) – Advanced Concepts of GD&T, Based on ASME Y14.5M-1994

This course will advance GD&T understanding by building on existing fundamental skills and providing more in-depth coverage of selected GD&T topics. Learn about advanced GD&T concepts like composite tolerancing, specialized datum applications, non-rigid part dimensioning, simultaneous and separate requirements and many more key topics needed to apply tolerances to industrial parts. Examples given are more complex, helping prepare students to cope with the tolerancing problems encountered in the workplace.

Course Outline (PDF) – Tolerance Stacks Using GD&T

This advanced course will show you how to calculate worst-case tolerance stacks using all part tolerances. Emphasis is on identifying and solving problems in the design stage, getting the design right the first time, ensuring your released drawings are correct, and ultimately saving time and money.

The instructor is GDTP certified by ASME in accordance with the qualifications of ASME Y14.5.2 in the Senior level.
